Addis Today Comment:
Amare Aregawi for a long time attempted to elude many Ethiopians who wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt. Many Ethiopians even if they knew that Amare is part of the system and a member of the Woyane mafia, they halfheartedly endorsed his paper as a good source of information. As for the source of information, he benefited because of his link to the ruling minority regime. But when the trying time came, Amare did not hesitate to blindly side with his true “side”, whatever it might mean to him. His paper now is as worthless as the government dailies like Addis Zemen and the Ethiopian Herald. Last Saturday’s (11.03.06) editorial of Amare http://www.ethiopianreporter.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=3799 reveals his boundless fear about any one who speaks the truth and criticizes the minority regime in Addis Ababa. Last Saturday the wrath of Amare went to EU election observation team and its head, Anna Gomez. He wanted apology on behalf of his government from the EU. He forgot to comment the rather sleazy brandishing of team and its leader by his Prime Minister on the government English daily, the Ethiopian Herald. The letter to the editor of Mr. Zenawi was a very interesting document for those who would one day study his psychology and fear. The letter only demonstrated Mr. Zenawi’s childishness and extreme fear. The Reporter also repeated what the Prime Minister did few months back.
What Amare should ask is not apology and independent enquiry commission but Mrs. Gomez to be included in the list of those accused of genocide against the Tigray people and outrage against the constitution. You can do this. As far the trial proceeds with transparency and fairness as the Americans of Guntanamo Bay asked for.
